INTERNATIONAL CRIME ALERT: KHALID MOHAMMED

The United States has established a list of "Most Wanted Terrorists." Several of the twenty-two fugitives on this list, including

Osama bin Laden, are part of al-Qaida, the terrorist group responsible for the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Others are wanted in connection with previous terrorist attacks.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed [KAH-lid shake mo-HAHM-med] is wanted in connection with a Philippines-based conspiracy to bomb United States commercial airliners in 1995. Evidence indicated that the plotters may have been planning to kill President Bill Clinton and Pope John Paul the Second during their visits to the Philippines in late 1994 and early 1995.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed is believed to have been born in either Kuwait or Pakistan. For his birth date he uses either April 14th, 1965, or March 1st, 1964. He is of medium height and is heavyset. He has black hair, brown eyes, and an olive complexion. He has been known to wear eye-glasses and may be wearing a beard.

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed uses several aliases, including Ashraf Refaat Nabith Henin [AHSH-rahf RAH-faht na-BEE ha-NEEN], Khalid Abdul Wadood [KAH-lid AB-dul wah-DOOD], Salem Ali [SAH-lem AH-lee], and Khalid al Baluchi [KAH-lid ahl ba-LOO-shee].

The U.S. is offering a reward of up to twenty-five-million dollars for information leading to the arrest of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed. If you have information concerning this fugitive, you should contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. The identities of individuals providing information will be kept confidential.
