INTERNATIONAL CRIME ALERT: AL-ADEL

The United States has established a list of "Most Wanted Terrorists." Several of the twenty-two fugitives on this list, including Osama bin Laden, are part of al-Qaida, the terrorist group responsible for the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Others are wanted in connection with previous terrorist attacks.

Saif Al-Adel [SAFE ahl-AH-del] is wanted in connection with the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, in which over two-hundred people were killed and over five-thousand were wounded. He has trained terrorist recruits in handling explosives, and he trained tribal fighters to attack the United Nations peacekeeping force in Somalia in 1993.

Saif Al-Adel is a top lieutenant of Osama bin Laden. He came to the al-Qaida network as part of its merger with Egyptian Islamic Jihad. He is said to be a member of al-Qaida’s consultation council, the body that approves all terrorist operations. Al-Adel is believed to have trained the hijackers of the two commercial jets that were deliberately crashed into the World Trade Center.

Al-Adel was born in Egypt and is an Egyptian citizen. For his birth date he uses April 11th, 1963, or April 11th, 1960. He has dark hair, dark eyes, and an olive complexion.

Saif Al-Adel uses the aliases Muhamad Ibrahim Makkawi [moo-HAH-mahd EEB-ra-heem mak-KAH-wee] and Ibrahim Al-Madani [EEB-ra-heem ahl-MA-da-nee].

The U.S. is offering a reward of up to twenty-five-million dollars for information leading to the arrest of Saif Al-Adel. If you have information concerning this fugitive, you should contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. The identities of all informants will be kept confidential.
