Wins Cine Golden Eagle Award Washington, D.C., Jan. 14, 2002 – The Voice of America has won the distingished CINE Golden Eagle Award for "The Lost Boys: Journey to Freedom." The award winning video was produced by Larry Clamage, with contributing videography by Scott Stearns, and edited by Larry Clamage and Kathleen Schrader. The story details two Sudanese young men experiencing life in the United States for the first time. Along with 10,000 other refugees, these young men walked barefoot from Sudan to Ethiopia, back to Sudan, and then to Kenya to escape the horrors of war. These "Lost Boys of Sudan" came to the United States, as part of the largest resettlement of unaccompanied refugee children in history. Mr. Clamage’s story aired in English on VOA’s weekly television newsmagazine "This Week," and was also streamed on the Internet. The story was also adapted into a radio program in English and for use by VOA’s 53 language services. Over 600 jurors nationwide participate in the selection of the CINE Golden Eagle Award.
