Program Placement for International Broadcasting Bureau Washington, D.C., Jan. 9, 2002 – Betty Berneman Barber has been named Director of Marketing and Program Placement for the International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB) in Washington. The IBB encompasses the Voice of America, the worldwide multimedia broadcasting service funded by the U.S. Government. In her new position, Ms. Barber will be responsible for program placement and coordination of the Bureau’s vast network of international radio and television partners around the world. Ms. Barber has over 20 years of experience in radio management, program marketing, and affiliate sales. She was most recently Vice President for Content Sales and Marketing for Onradio.com, where she directed sales, customer support and network management for 600 affiliate web sites. Prior to Onradio, Ms. Barber was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Metro Networks, where she led the product expansion of Metro Source, a revolutionary "Wire Service" for the broadcast industry. In that capacity she developed market strategies and managed affiliate sales to radio stations in the top 75 radio markets, achieving twice the number of affiliates projected by Wall Street. Ms. Barber has also been Regional Sales Manager for the Associated Press; Vice President for News Affiliations and Operations for Shadow Broadcasting Services, where she led the expansion into syndicated news programming; General Sales Manager for WTTM-Radio in Trenton; Director of Operations for WIP Radio in Philadelphia; and News Director/Anchor for WWDE-Radio in Philadelphia. The Voice of America broadcasts over 900 hours of news, informational, educational, and cultural programming every week to a worldwide audience of 91 million.
