Marc Nathanson, Chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, will describe how Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and the Voice of America are piercing the media black-out in Serbia and Kosovo, at a media briefing on Thursday, April 8, at 10:00 AM at Voice of America headquarters in Washington, D.C.
At the Thursday briefing, Nathanson will discuss how VOA and RFE/RL broadcasts have been reaching the Serbian people on short and medium wave and via the Internet, despite the media black-out, and he will announce several additional broadcasting measures that are being taken to further ensure that the Serbian people have ready access to objective news and information.
The bipartisan, presidentially-appointed Broadcasting Board of Governors supervises all U.S. government-supported international broadcasting, including RFE/RL and VOA, as well as Radio Free Asia, Radio and TV Marti, and WORLDNET television.
Media representatives interested in attending the April 8 briefing, which will be held at Voice of America headquarters at 330 Independence Avenue S.W., should call the office of External Affairs at 619-2538.
