The workshop, June 4 –15, is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development and organized by the University of Tennessee Department of Broadcasting and VOA’s International Media Training Center, which is committed to the development of a free and independent media throughout the world. The training program emphasizes the business side of media management focusing on finances and personnel, ratings and programming, and promotions and sales. An overview of network and cable television in the U.S. will include visits to the following stations in Knoxville: WATE-TV (ABC), WBIR-TV (NBC), WVLT-TV (CBS), WTNZ-TV (Fox), public television station WSJK-TV, as well as CNN headquarters in Atlanta.
