PRESIDENT BUSH’S REMARKS
TO BE BROADCAST LIVE WORLDWIDE

On Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001 President Bush’s address to a joint session of Congress will be broadcast live with simultaneous translations by the Voice of America and WORLDNET Television on radio, TV, and the Internet

VOA will provide special live broadcasts in Dari, Pashto, and Urdu to Afghanistan in addition to English and Mandarin at 9:00 p.m. EDT.  All of the other VOA language services (for a total of 53) will carry the remarks during regular broadcast times.

VOA's Internet site (http://www.voanews.com/webcasts/) will carry audio of the President's address in Dari and Pashto as well as in English on VOA News Now. VOA's Mandarin-language web page will stream the address live in audio and video.

WORLDNET Television Service will provide live broadcasts of the remarks in English, Arabic, Farsi, Hindi, Russian, Mandarin, and Spanish.  Additional broadcasts in French, Portuguese and English will follow.

VOA broadcasts over 900 hours of news, informational, educational, and cultural programming every week to an audience of some 91 million worldwide. Programs are produced and broadcast in English and 52 other languages. 

WORLDNET Television provides news and public affairs programs that reflect American life, and discussions on United States foreign and domestic policies on seven satellites, 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, to a worldwide audience through broadcast outlets, cable systems, and direct-to-home satellite receivers.
