Chin Kim-David Oei Violin-Piano Duo
Perform on March 27 in VOA‘s Noontime Concert Series

Washington, D.C., March 19, 2002 – Violinist Chin Kim and pianist David Oei will perform works by J.S. Bach and Edvard Grieg at the Voice of America on March 27 in VOA's continuing Noontime Concert Series. The live performance is free and open to the public.

Acclaimed for his deep musicality and virtuosity, Mr. Kim has performed extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia as guest artist with orchestras including those of Philadelphia, St. Louis, Montreal, and Atlanta with conductors such as Leonard Slatkin, John Nelson, Myung Whun Chung, and Sixten Ehring. As a recitalist, Mr. Kim has appeared in major halls in New York, Boston, Chicago, Toronto, Brussels, and Seoul.

Mr. Oei was soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic at the age of nine and has since performed with major orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh and Baltimore Symphonies. He is the winner of five Interlochen Concert Competitions as well as founding director of the Salon Chamber Players and a founding member of the Aspen Soloists, the Festival Chamber Music Society and the Intimate P.D.Q. Bach.

The year-long concert series, which began on March 6 with a performance by pianist Byron Janis, is part of VOA’s observance of its 60th anniversary this year. The series continues VOA’s tradition of live cultural performances for broadcast in 53 languages around the world.

Future performances in VOA’s Noontime Concert Series will include the Paraguayan-born classical guitarist, Berta Rojas on April 10; the pianist Stephen Drury on May 10; the American Boychoir on May 22; Washington’s own Potomac String Quartet on June 26; and the St. Petersburg Quartet on July 24.

Performances begin at 12:00 noon at VOA headquarters in the Wilbur J. Cohen Building at 330 Independence Ave., SW.
