ADDED TO BYRON JANIS' VOA CONCERT Washington, D.C., Mar. 1, 2002 -- The Voice of America is excited to announce an addition to Mr. Byron Janis’ recital of Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at VOA. Although not mentioned in the program, the concert will begin with Staff Sergeant Kevin Bennear, vocalist with United States Marine Band, in a rendition of the song, "Heroes Passing By", accompanied by Byron Janis. This song was written by Mr. Janis, with lyrics by Barbara Campbell. It is dedicated to the centenary of the actor, Gary Cooper (Mr. Janis’s father-in-law), and to all the American heroes for which he was a symbol. This concert is the inaugural performance in the new Voice of America Noontime Concert Series in celebration of its 60th year of international broadcasting.
