BRENSON E. LONG NAMED CHIEF OF THE PERSONNEL OPERATIONS DIVISION AT THE INTERNATIONAL BROADCASTING BUREAU

Washington, D.C., December 1, 1999 -- Brenson E. Long has been named Chief of the Personnel Operations Division in the Office of Personnel and Administration at the International Broadcasting Bureau.

Long will direct the planning and development of recruitment, staffing, position classification and position management programs, and non-U.S. citizen support services throughout the Bureau?s world-wide organization.

Before joining the International Broadcasting Bureau, Long served as a Senior Personnel Management Specialist in the Congressional/Employee Inquiry Division of the U.S. Navy?s Office of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Civilian Personnel/Equal Employment Opportunity.

His prior experience includes serving as Deputy Director, Vice President Al Gore's National Partnership for Reinventing (NPR) Government?s Diversity Task Force: Senior Personnel Management Specialist, Department of the Navy, and Major, United States Army. Long has had over twenty years of personnel management experience. In addition, Long has received numerous Special Achievement Awards and Certificates of Appreciation.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical/Health Education (cum laude) and a Masters degree in Personnel Administration, both from Howard University, Washington, D.C. He has attended Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria, VA and has pursued a Doctoral degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

Long and his wife Patricia reside in Burtonsville, Maryland.

The International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB) is an autonomous U.S. Government civilian broadcast service, which is composed of the Voice of America, WORLDNET Television and Film Service, and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (Radio and TV Marti). IBB became autonomous on October 1, 1999, and is under the authority of the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
