Gallup Poll Editor-in-Chief Frank Newport

Appears on Global Exchange

Washington, D.C., March 5, 2002 — On March 6 at 9:00 a.m., Frank Newport, Gallup Poll Editor-in-Chief, will be one of the guests on WORLDNET's Global Exchange, which will focus on "Anti-Americanism in the Middle East." The Gallup Poll report, released last week, found that many residents of nine Muslim countries called the United States "ruthless and arrogant" and described themselves as "resentful" of the U.S.

The poll indicated that 18 percent of those polled say they believe Arabs carried out the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. Just 9 percent say they think U.S. military action in Afghanistan is morally justified. In Kuwait, which U.S. troops liberated from Iraq in 1991, 36 percent of the respondents say the September 11th attacks were justified.

Dr. Louis Cantori, Political Scientist and author of four books on Islam; and Hesham Melhem, Washington Analyst and Correspondent for As-Safir, Al-Qabas, Radio Monte Carlo and Dubai Television; are the other two guests.

Global Exchange provides direct access to America's foremost decision-makers, politicians, entrepreneurs, medical experts, scientists, authors, news maker and other noted authorities. The program concentrates on important news and current events, providing broadcasters and their viewers the opportunity to ask questions via satellite in a live, unedited format.
