| Washington, D.C., Nov. 8, 2000 -- Broadcasting executives Norman J.
Pattiz and Robert M. Ledbetter, Jr., will be sworn in on Tuesday, Nov.
14, as the newest members of the Broadcasting Board of
Governors. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 12:30
pm at Voice of America headquarters,
330 Independence Avenue, S.W. (please use the C Street entrance).
Mr. Ledbetter, of Tupelo, Mississippi, has served as Vice President
and General Manager of NBC affiliate WTVA TV in that city since 1977.
Mr. Pattiz, of Beverly Hills, California, is the founder of Westwood One,
America's largest radio network.
Marc B. Nathanson, is Chairman
of the Broadcasting Board of Governors. In addition
to Norman J. Pattiz and Robert M. Ledbetter, Jr., the newest governors,
Tom
C. Korologos, Edward E. Kaufman,
Alberto
Mora, Cheryl Halpern, and Madeleine
K. Albright, Secretary of State, also serve on the Board. The ninth
position is vacant.
The Broadcasting Board of Governors is a nine-member,
presidentially appointed body which supervises all U.S. government-supported
international broadcasting, including
Radio
Free Europe/Radio Liberty and
VOA,
Radio
Free Asia, Radio and TV Marti, and WORLDNET
Television.
