Early Friday morning, WORLDNET broadcast simultaneous Serbian and Russian translations of the President's message. The Voice of America's Serbian service also broadcast excerpts of the President's message. VOA also advised its listeners in Serbia of the later satellite television broadcast of the President's remarks.
Later Friday morning, WORLDNET carried a statement by Secretarty of State Madeleine Albright, which the Secretary delivered in Serbian. WORLDNET also carried interviews on the crisis in Kosovo with Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott, Assistant Secretary of State Julia Taft, Special Assistant to the President and Director for Implementation of the Dayton Accords Greg Schulte, and Special Envoy Robert Gelbard.
WORLDNET Television and Film Service, which is part of the International Broadcasting Bureau, was established in 1983 as a global public affairs information, and cultural television network to present a balanced and accurate picture of American society, policies, and people.
